When to visit Amristar

November to March – The best time to visit Amritsar is between November and March, when the weather is comparatively pleasant and ideal for sightseeing and visiting the Golden Temple.

Dharamshala is a city in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Surrounded by cedar forests on the edge of the Himalayas, this hillside city is home to the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government-in-exile. The Thekchen Choling Temple Complex is a spiritual center for Tibetan Buddhism, while the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives houses thousands of precious manuscripts.

Dalhousie is a high-altitude town spread across 5 hills near the Dhauladhar mountain range in the north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It’s home to colonial-era buildings, including St. Francis and St. John’s churches, which date back to the rule of the British Raj in the 1800s. A trek up Dainkund Peak leads to Pholani Devi Temple

Arrive Amritsar & Drive to Dharamsala (6hrs)

Arrival at Amritsar Station or Airport, proceed for Dharamsala, The High snow clad Dhauladhar ranges form a magnificent backdrop to the hill resort of Dharamsala. This is the principal township of Kangra district and overlooks wide spread of the plains. With dense pine and deodar forests, numerous streams, cool healthy air, attractive surroundings and the nearby snowline, Dharamsala has everything for a perfect holiday.

It is full of life and yet peaceful. The headquarters of His Holiness the Dalai Lama are at upper Dharamsala. Covering a wide area in the form of twin settlement, lower Dharamsala (1380m) is a busy commercial centre. While upper Dharamsala (1830m) with the suburbs of Mcleodganj and Forsytheganj, retains a British flavor and colonial lifestyle.

The charming church of St. John in the wilderness is situated here and this is the final resting place of Lord Elgin, a British Viceroy of India during the 19th century. There is also a large Tibetan community who have made this place their home. Numerous ancient temples like Jwalamukhi, Brijeshwari and Chamunda lie on the plains below Dharamsala. Dharamsala - Full Day Local Sightseeing

After breakfast is free for a tour of Dharamshala where you are going to cover the major attractions that are going to include Dal Lake, Church, Bhagsu Nag Temple and Tibetan Monastery. All these places are filled with a lot of natural beauty.

After lunch we embark on a sightseeing visit to the famous Tibetan Medical Centre, where treatment is done using rare Tibetan medicines.St. John Church, which is one of the oldest churches of this region. It is widely acknowledged for its Belgian stained-glass windows, which were donated by Lady Elgin. Other than these attractions, some other places to visit include Kangra Art Museum.

Dharamsala to Dalhousie (05hrs.)

After ravishing breakfast check-out from the hotel. We move on to our next destination Dalhousie – a famous hill station in the lap of Himachal Pradesh known for its rich colonial architecture and preserves some of the beautiful churches, St. John’s and St. Francis’ church.

Dalhousie has emerged as one of the favourite hill stations of India. It is famed for its splendid beauty and salubrious climate. Away from the hectic life of cities the tranquility of this place will take your heart away. This fascinating hill station is at a height of 6,460ft above sea level.

A semblance of Tibet culture has added an exotic touch to this serene destination. Spectacular forest trails, waterfalls and springs makes this place all the more astonishing. The Mall road is a good place to shop for Himachali shawls, woollens, tibetan handicrafts and tradional jewellery. Dalhousie - Local Full Day Sight Seeing

Today morning after a savoury breakfast we set out for a local sightseeing tour of Dalhousie .There are four beautiful churches in Dalhousie. These are St. Andrew’s Church, St. Patrick’s Church at Balun, St. Francis church at Subhash Chowk and St.John’s Church at Gandhi Chowk. Subhash Baoli is a picturesque site surrounded by majestic trees and snowcapped peaks, named after Subhash Chandra Bose, the famous Indian freedom fighter, who had spent a lot of time here meditating.

Panchpula is a waterfall, and an amazing picnic spot in Dalhousie, surrounded by a cover of fresh, green pine and deodar trees,. The spot where five streams come together. A Samadhi is built near Panchpula in the memory of a great revolutionary, Sardar Ajit Singh (Uncle of Martyr Bhagat Singh), who breathed his last here. Moreover, the pristine water is best enjoyed during monsoon when the water gushes down the falls and the surroundings leave you stupefied.

Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary, located in the picturesque hilly Chambal district of Himachal Pradesh. The name Kalatop means ‘black cap’, which probably refers to the thick black forest cover on the highest hilltop in the sanctuary. The trekking and hiking trails in the Kalatop Sanctuary offers a pristine, mesmerizing experience with nature and one of the best means to explore the beautiful untouched forests. Dalhousie to Amritsar (without Wagah Border) (05hrs.)

Checkout from Hotel after breakfast and then we drive to Amritsar by Road. Amritsar (also called Ambarsar) is a city in the northwestern Indian state of Punjab. At the center of its walled old town is the gilded Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib), considered the holiest gurdwara, or religious complex, of the Sikh religion.

It’s at the end of a causeway, surrounded by the sacred Amrit Sarovar lake, where pilgrims bathe. Amritsar has all the makings of a well-rounded tourist destination; its ancient legends, historical monuments, places of worship, old bazaars, theatre traditions and colourful festivals all serve as a window to its robust past. Amritsar Local Sight seeing & Drop at Railway / Airport Station

After breakfast, start your half day city tour (if time permit) with the blessings of Golden Temple-the most important sikh shrine which is also called Mecca for the Sikhs is a living symbol of the spiritual and historical traditions of the Sikhs.

Later visit Jallianwala Bagh- where, on April 13, 1919, British and Gurkha soldiers opened fire on an unarmed forbidden gathering, killing hundreds of civilians. Also, visit the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Summer Palace Museum – The summer place of Maharaja Ranjit Singh which is situated in the heart of Ram Bagh. Later drop at Airport / Railway Station
